One idea that binds us together as pagans is reverence for the natural world. Groves of sacred trees were and are places for ritual practice, community, and tribal discussions (politics). Stewardship of the earth is a central common practice.

Growing and Using White Sage for Smudging
White sage is one of my favorite herbs to grow for smudging ceremonies. Smudging is an ancient ceremony used for purification, cleansing, and blessings.
I grow a variety of herbs for medicinal and ceremonial purposes. By nurturing them from young plants to dried smudge sticks I get a great deal of satisfaction and I feel my smudge sticks are much more powerful because they have my energy.
Natures Calendar and the Modern Pagan
Long before clocks, calendars, and phone apps, the ancients knew how to monitor the passing of time. Nature’s calendar is based on lunar and solar cycles which give us the days, weeks, months, and seasons of the year.
These natural cycles have energy that is also present within us. By understanding these natural rhythms, we can be in harmony with nature and understand how to flow with her forces.
